Project Summary:
The ARLSTB conducts and sponsors research aimed at providing
the U.S. Army a global computing environment composed of multiple
heterogenous networks. The computing environment is completely
integrated, secure, and responsive to the needs of Army customers.
This global communications network supports and integrates geographically
and functionally separate systems through transmission and control
of voice, data, and video information.
ISPA provides on-site computer systems operational support,
including operation and maintenance of three computer network
systems used at Software Technology Branch. Specific tasks include
management of the ADP assets, configuration management, network
architecture and design, user applications support, archives
management, Internet/WWW support, video teleconferencing coordination
and support, physical and logical cable plant mapping, systems
performance and tuning, e-mail user support, systems tools development,
user technical services, user training, and performing new technology
assessments.
Similar services are also provided to the U.S. Army Environmental
Policy Institute (AEPI), which operates in a Power Mac environment.
